The new board of the Arbeitskreis Provenienzforschung e.V.

The new board of the Arbeitskreis Provenienzforschung e.V. introduces itself: On April 29, 2025, the current seven-member board was elected at the association’s annual general meeting. Ruth von dem Bussche (Düsseldorf) will take on the role of Chairperson, with Volker Cirsovius (Chemnitz/Dresden), Lisa Kern (Munich), Ilja Labischinski (Berlin), Katja Lindenau (Dresden), Iris Metje (Düsseldorf) and Johannes Schwartz (Hanover) joining the new board as Deputy Chairpersons. Together, the team brings expert knowledge from provenance research on colonial and Nazi-persecution and Nazi-occupation-related acquisition contexts, as well as on the confiscation of cultural property in the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR. Thanks to their diverse professional experience and specialist areas, not only are perspectives from libraries, archives and museums represented, but also experience from coordinating functions and a focus on digital provenance research. The new board would like to continue the successful work of its predecessors and support and coordinate the now more than 620 members of the association. The team would like to thank the previous board, chaired by Meike Hopp, for their support during the current handover phase and looks forward to working together with the working groups and members. It will be possible to get to know each other personally at the annual meeting in Bonn in September. More information
