Kurzbeschreibung
During the German occupation of the Netherlands from 1940, the businesses of Jewish art dealers were placed under German administrative control. Appointed „Verwalters“ (administrators) used bureaucratic means — paperwork, inventories, and signatures — to quietly expropriate and „aryanise“ the Dutch art market, making administration itself a powerful tool of dispossession. The blog uses the case study of Jacques Jansen, one such administrator, to illustrate how this process unfolded in practice.
