Kurzbeschreibung

A much-used tool for provenance research, the Getty Provenance Index, has been relaunched as a database. It is therefore useful to get a better understanding of the underlying data structures which represent the objects we are dealing with primarily. A sample of 3,600 objects from 1937-1943 is analysed and presented here with view to range and structure: What is recorded and how, and can therefore be found?
